This project uses spatial analysis techniques to spatially disaggregate the forecasts of water demand in the Metropolitan Area of Medellín between 2010 and 2040. The resulting information will provide critical information about the future requirements of water infrastructure network required to respond to urban growth.
The final product of this project is a software called Boyle, which allows visualizing and estimating, at any spatial scale, the future demand for water. The software also contains an early warning system to detect the zones that are near to reach their capacity limit.
This project seeks to describe the socioeconomic dynamics in the Metropolitan Area of Medellin from 1993 to 2009. It covers six major areas of analysis: demography, education, labor market, poverty, mobility, and security.
This research is part of a wider project called “Plan Director 2030” in which the public administration and academics from France, Barcelona and Colombia work on the construction of a sustainable urban development of the Metropolitan Area of Medellin.
This project seeks to develop an input-output matrix approximation for the city of Medellín, and identify the clusters which have developed in the city to be dynamically simulated using system dynamics. The resulting simulations will be useful to propose strategies to strengthen the chain relationships that favor regional development.
Formulation of a optimization model to reproduce the conditions of the sealed auction by the National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE), so that the results of this model could be used to certify that the assignment of the contracts was optimal. The project also involves advising the CNEE for tuning the software that the institution used to carry out the auction.
A Python interface was developed to generate and solve linear programming problems in the MPS standard for several optimization applications (Mosek, lp_solve and Lingo) to carry out the required computations.
